Policy makers in three dozen states this year proposed drug testing for people receiving benefits like welfare, unemployment assistance, job training, food stamps and public housing. Such laws, which proponents say ensure that tax dollars are not being misused and critics say reinforce stereotypes about the poor, have passed in states including Arizona, Indiana and Missouri
If I have to pee in a cup to get a job why isn't my 'privacy' protected?
So if I have to pee to get a job they should certainly have to pee in a cup to recieve welfare from the taxes taken from me in the job I got by peeing in cup to get the job. That's the first step in getting the recieptiants back to a full time job and becoming a working citizen and onto earning their health care. They will find that as they become participants in the worlds greatest country (America) that putting into the tax coffers offers a satisifaction that is unparrelled in the welfare sector. They will learn pride in a job well done. At the same time they will understand the pain we (hard working americans) have to endure that comes with higher taxation. Reduce government and reduce taxes and focus political attention onto bring jobs back to america. Start by offering companies tax breaks for bringing jobs back to america.
Speaking as a probation officer who supervises a population of repeat drug offenders, I am in complete agreement with drug testing for any person receiving financial benefits that come from tax payer money. In my experience, if someone is on public assistance, whether it be cash assistance, food stamps, of medicaid if they are also using drugs there is a high liklihood that is not their only illegal act. It is often times the only one that they are caught for. Many people on food stamps sell their stamps for cash at a discounted rate and then use the cash to buy cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. I see it personally every day of my life. Test them and get the people who abuse the system out of the system.
