What Color Are You?
As a child, when asked what color am I, I would say black or maybe even brown. Only because being raised in an all-African American family as a child that's what I was always told. But after being out in the world and learning that not everything is so basic, or to be taken literally, I would say I'm more of a hot pink/fuchsia. I mean I have a 64 count box of crayons in my room, and it definitely has more than just black, brown, white or tan, so why not be, well, PINK.
When I tell people I consider myself to be pink, they immediately jump to being a Barbie. Barbie is plastic, as in not real. She's a toy I played with in my childhood. When I Say I'm pink, I'm basing it off the meaning behind PINK; I'm full of compassion, love, and joy. The fact that pink is my favorite color, plays a Hugh part in my chose of pink.
I consider myself PINK because Pink is the color of universal love and compassion and emotional love of self and others. It brings you in contact with your feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth and love, and acceptance. It also heals grief and sadness. It soothes difficulties in both romantic and family relationships and assists with self-esteem and self-love.
