What does it mean to be truly wealthy? The word wealthy can be defined as having an abundance of valuable possession or money. Nowadays, much importance is placed on accumulation of wealth in society. Some people find happiness through High-End product, luxurious cars, home and being highly respected by their peers and families  for their status in society. It is still highly debatable if wealth necessarily bring happiness .For instance, one can accumulate as much wealth as possible but their health and time could be highly affected. There is a quote by Mahatma Ghandi that it is not money or assets that is the true wealth but it is health that is indeed more precious. There are 3 points that this essay would highlight regarding the co relation between wealth and happiness, which are money equals to happiness, money is not equal to happiness and money may equal happiness.

The first viewpoint is wealth equals to happiness. In fact, some people associate their happiness with having lots of wealth. The more money you have, the more things you can buy. Back in the day, as kids most of us would want to buy toys that our friends have or would want to buy whatever toy that grabs our attention. The moment we get our hands on the item, it quickly turns to the best time of our lives but it will only last a few days till we lose interest, the toy brakes or is missing in action. The happiness will only last a few moment till we get new toys and the ones we bought earlier gets replaced. The same thing can be said about adults but rather than toy cars and dollhouses some associates their happiness with having luxury cars and mansions. According to a report by Business insider

(Close,2016).doing a study on daily habits of poor and rich in a 5 year period. The research found 98% of poor were not happy whereas 82% of wealthier people are happy. They also found that 93% of the top percentile enjoys what they are doing for a living while 85% of poor were unhappy Based on the study done, we can infer that although majority of wealthy some are not because of their lifestyle and 15% of poor people are happier as they enjoy life the way it is.

The second viewpoint is money does not equal to happiness. Being happy does not require you to be filthy rich or wealthy. There are few ingredients to being happy. You do not need to have all the wealth in the world but all you  some poor people are need is just love from people around you and most importantly, yourself. Some people focus their lives more on the acquisition of wealth and may manifest itself in taking extra shifts regardless of impact on quality family time and one own morals. The other way that money can destroy you is by spending future income. By buying things that we cannot afford now like cars , houses holidays we most likely rob our future chances in different ways. Bank interest from loans, money that has been borrowed will only mount and becomes a burden and will only bring misery instead of happiness.
