Who Needs an Extra Year?

We do not need an extra year of high school. High school is already to long and what is an extra year really going to do for us. As a senior you are already taking easy classes or you are not at school for half the day taking college classes.

An extra year of school would also cost a lot of money. It would cost the school a lot of money because of the extra students who will need different books and more lunches. It will also cost more money for parents. They'll have to pay more student fees and take care of there kids longer before they leave for college. Then the school will either become poor or they'll have to pass levies that will raise taxes for the district area.

It may put kids in a predicament to where they may have to drop out. Since most kids are 18 before they graduate in a normal four year high school, a five year high school may make kids have to go to high school on their own. Their parents may kick them out of the house and they'll have 2 options; one, get a job and go to high school or two, drop out and get a job and have no college profession.

As you can see there are more negatives than there are positives in this scenario. Kids will drop out, cost the school and parents more money, and be delayed from real life work force longer than they should. So an extra year of high school is not a very good decision for preparing kids for life.
