"Why I want to be a Medical Assistant"
In the world we live in today , everyone thinks that the medical field is the way to go for lots of money in the bank, and that may be true, but people who are in it just for the money are usually the ones who end up with malpractice suits or angry, mistreated patients. I, however, do not want to be in the medical field for solely monetary gain, although that is a plus.
There is a difference between a "good" doctor and a "bad" doctor. "For example, Dr. Kevorkian, he killed all of his patients intentionally or as it is called through euthanasia. Through horrifying assisted suicide related deaths he became extremely infamous but also revered by many but sought out by few. ("Patients rights council," 2011) He is a prime example of what a bad doctor is, and then on the other hand there is someone like "navy corpsman PM2 John Henry Bradley or Doc as the Marines that he fought alongside called him. He was better known for assisting with the raising of the American flag on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima on Mount Suribachi" (Bradley & Powers, 2000) , but he was an incredible combat physician. However the Navy called him a Pharmacists Mate; that makes no difference he was still a Medical Professional.
There are only a few reasons that I think that I will be a "good" medical assistant. One of them being that I love working with kids; when I was still in grade school I was tasked at home with watching over my younger brothers and that allowed me to get some real life experience with how to raise and take care of children. That edge, I think, will help me be prepared for working in a Pediatrics office.
I also believe that my prior military experience will be an extremely influential benefactor in my progress in the profession of Medical Assisting; meaning that I am quick on my feet, but not only will my military experience be able to help me I will also be very effective because I love to work with people and people seem to enjoy being around me. I am a very patient and extremely empathetic person so I think that will also make me very successful.
The main reason that I want to be a medical assistant is because I want to work in a pediatrics office and work with kids on a regular basis. Caring for children is a passion that I have had for quite some time and I just want a chance to be able to prove that passion through hard work and advancement. I will be very effective in a pediatrics office because I have always been good at calming children down and making them feel comfortable regardless of the situation. There is a saying that goes,
"The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease"
