Topic: Why people should run.

Organization: Problem/Solution

Specific Purpose: I would like my audience to believe that running should be part of everyone's daily lifestyle.

I. Introduction

A. Attention Getter: Do any of you know where you can feel the fresh breeze in the air, feel the warm sun on your skin, see many miles without operating a vehicle, and also exercise at the same time? I do and its running.

B. Relevance: Now when many of you hear the word running, you literally go running away. What you don't know is, is that Texas is one of 15 states to have 30% or more of its population to become obese. So out of the class if we had 40 kids in here 12 of them are obese. -

C. Credibility: Personally, I have developed a love for running over my life. I have also competed in many events in track from running a 200 to running a 4x400 relay, ive done them all.

D. Propositional Statement: Being obese or overweight remains a problem in the united states and even more specifically Texas. Because Texas reached 66% of the adult pop. as obese and running can reduce anxiety and stress., I propose people should seek running as a first source of exercise and also people should consume an overall healthier diet. -

II. Body

* Support: 60 % of People who are obese or overweight have diabetes

* 75 percent of Texas adults are predicted to be overweight or obese by the year 2040

Transition Statement: "Not only is the percentage of people who are obese a major problem, but lack of exercise can create stress and anxiety which can be relieved by running.

B. The second part of the problem is: Running is also considered a natural pain killer.

1. Support: "Regular and consistent exercise will not only alleviate stress but will also contribute to overall health and a feeling of well being".

2. Support: People who run and keep an active lifestyle can live up to 8-15 years longer than people who don't.

Transition Statement: Anxiety and Stress are major problems that can not be ignored. Because there is such a high percent of overweight texans and lack of excersice causes sTress and Anxiety , a solution is desperately needed.

C. The first part of the solution that I propose is: that people should choose running as a first source of excersice.
