William Jefferson Clinton was born on August 19, 1946. Something that many of you may not know is that he was not always known as "William Jefferson Clinton", but when he was born; his name was "William Jefferson Blyth". Clinton's biological father, also William Blyth, a traveling sales person was killed in a car accident just three months before his birth. Clinton's mother, Virginia Dell Blyth, remarried when he was four. She married Roger Clinton in 1950. (They were later divorced and then remarried.) When he was in high school, at the age of 15, the young William Jefferson Blyth would adopt the family name, "Clinton". (Bill Clinton Biography)
As a child, the young Bill Clinton spent his days in the town of Hope, Arkansas, about 30 miles from Texarkana. He started school at St. Johns Catholic School. He later transferred to Ramble Elementary in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he stayed for the rest of his elementary career. After elementary, Clinton attended high school at Hot Springs High. He was a band major and an active member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society and Chorus. He became an All State Saxophone Player during this time, a talent that he portrayed on a number of television shows such as "The Tonight Show" and "The Arsenio Hall Show. In 1963, Clinton was a Hot Springs High School delegate to Boys State. He was elected as Arkansas' delegate to Boys Nation. While attending Boys Nation in Washington D.C., the young Bill Clinton had an experience that led him in the direction towards political greatness: He shook hands with President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Clinton later went on to college. He first attended Oxford University. With the help of Arkansas Senator William Fulbright, Clinton received a Rhodes Scholarship, and spent the next two years at Oxford University. Clinton later returned to the U.S. where he attended Yale law school. (Bill Clinton)
In 1970, Clinton met his future wife, Hillary Rodham at Yale University. After graduating from Yale in 1973, Bill and Hillary went on vacation to Europe. Bill proposed to her on the shores of Ennerdale in England. However, Hillary did not accept his proposal and said that she needed more time to think about marriage. Upon their return from Europe, Hillary moved to Clinton's home state of Arkansas to look for a job. With little luck, Hillary made a trip back home to be with her family. On their way to the airport, the couple passed a large brick house in the university district. Hillary had mentioned that she liked the house, and when she returned to Arkansas, Bill greeted her with the news that he had bought the house!
