ESSAY

Emotions, what are the things that come to your mind when you hear that word? Every man and woman have experienced nearly every emotion that is known, but do they all know what they mean? Take love for example, what is the meaning of the word love? Some say that love is an emotion of a strong affection towards another individual, but others misuse the word love as a mirage to love ones in an attempt to receive the same response back, some even take that word and changes it for life and death by showing affection to their loved ones, protecting them from anything that may harm them even though they know themselves that they might lose their lives during the process, Throughout this essay I'm going to be discussing about the emotions that are conveyed during the course of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare and also the war poem 'Dulce et Decorum' written by Rupert Brooke. I am also going to be comparing and contrasting the emotions that were displayed in both of the poem and the play such as sadness, bravery, love, and anger.

Whilst reading and analysing all of the pieces I finally concluded that out of all of the pieces that the prolific writers had produced, both of the war poems promoted more emotions on death, the type of feeling that is linked with this emotion is sadness, sorrow, helplessness and frustration, the reason to why I said all of these emotions are linked is because both of the poems 'The Soldier' and 'Dulce et Decorum' have the theme of war, meaning that if it is a war then there has to be a number of people dying fighting for their country which then later result in the soldiers family and parents going through a period of depression and sadness.

The poem 'Dulce et Decorum' written by the inspiring Wilfred Owen was set out in the early 20th century during the first world war, the poem was produced by the poet about a soldier who was at war for his country, throughout the poem a bit of bravery, fear and determination is exposed by the soldier when Owen quoted "Many had lost their boots but limped on" this quote conveys the amount of bravery and determination that were inside of the soldiers because although the soldiers were severely injured and wounded they kept on fighting and driving onwards towards the enemy knowing that they will eventually get killed, this reveals the type of fragility of a man's power on both of the battlefields as they struggle to "fight on" in the war in both the physical and emotional sense, but unlike Macbeth the soldiers have no other option but to kill and "stumble on" for a noble cause of serving and protecting their family and country.

On the other hand Macbeth tells a completely different story than the war poem does, but possesses some of the similar emotions that can be found in some parts of the war poem.

Macbeth was a play written by the great William Shakespeare during the early seventeenth century in honour of the Scottish king King James, King James had an interest in witchcraft that was taking place during the time of the early seventeenth century which brought attention and inspiration to William Shakespeare to write the Macbeth Play, The Macbeth play Illustrates the story of a man who gets taken on a journey, during the play, Macbeth gets told by three witches that "you will become king" but Macbeth didn't believe the witches words so then they also told him that he would become the thane of Cawdor which came to pass creating a small belief of what the witches said to him in the past abut him becoming king, This then start to transform Macbeth into a completely different individual because now that he knows that he is going to become kings he seeks power and respect, He then made a plan with his wife Lady Macbeth to kill King Duncan and put the blame on the guards, which would result in him becoming king, But what Macbeth didn't know is that the king had two sons Malcolm
