An Assessment of My Strengths and Weaknesses
There are many opportunities and obstacles in discovering what your strengths and weaknesses are. Many of them can come from setting and achieving goals, and working with other people. Personally, I like to set goals that are challenging and leads to successful rewards. Knowing that I set different goals, requires me to work extra hard to achieve them. No matter how long it takes, I strive to get the task done. When I do not set a goal or deadline, I feel as if I am not moving forward, or being challenged.
My strengths and weaknesses, when it comes to setting and achieving goals, are usually dependent on the level of difficulty of the goal and the obstacles involved in reaching that goal. While I feel that my strong points equals to my determination, I feel weak when obstacles I can't control are preventing me from attaining my goal. During a time when I had three papers that needed to be completed in the same time frame, I had to set priorities for the completion of each. I knew that I had a busy schedule with not only school and work, but also with extracurricular activities. Therefore, I knew I had to come up with a strategy so all three papers are turned in on time. My strategy was to do the most difficult paper first and do the easiest paper last. Time management was a big priority in completing these papers.
Working with other people can be both a good and bad thing especially when trying to achieve goals. The bad thing is, for example, I was assigned to a science fair project with four other people and we all were assigned individual parts for an overall group grade. On the day we had to present the project, one member of the group didn't complete their part. Since their part was incomplete, the whole team received a D. The good thing is, for example, my cheerleader team has been working very hard this year as a whole because we wanted to qualify for a big national competition. Because of our hard work, we now qualify for a national competition in Florida. In both situations, good and bad, I work extremely had to do my part. No matter what, I always strive to achieve a successful outcome.
The CASA Academy program is an extremely challenging environment and I'm fully aware and prepared to work both with other and on my own. I know that it's going to take a lot of hard work. I feel confident and know that I'm ready for any and every challenge. Despite the obstacles set before me, I try very hard in everything I do.
