An Assessment on the Passing Rate of the Jose C. Feliciano College

in Licensure Examination for Nurses During the

June 2007 and December 2007 Examination

The Jose C. Feliciano College started offering Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. The Institute of Nursing, Midwifery, and Nursing Aide is headed by Mr. Constantine G. Sazon, MAN. Under his supervision 47 of nursing students graduated as the pioneering batch of the JCFC Nursing Graduates. Among the 47 who graduated 38 took the Licensure Examination for Nurses last June 2007 and December 2007.

The Research, Planning, and Development Office (RPDO) conduct this assessment to evaluate how the Jose C. Feliciano College Institute of Nursing performs in the Licensure Examination for Nurses.

The Examiner

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is the regulating body for the issuance of professional license. Its vision was to be the instrument of the Filipino people in securing for the nation a reliable, trustworthy and progressive system of developing professionals whose personal integrity and spiritual values are solid and respected, whose competencies are globally competitive, and whose commitment to serve the Filipino nation and the whole community is strong and steadfast.

The Examinees

The pioneer graduating class of the Institute of Nursing took the Licensure Examination for Nurses last June 2007 and December 2007.

There are 15 nursing graduates represent the first batch who took the Licensure Examination last June 2007. The second batch that took the Licensure Examination was comprises of 23 first timers and 7 repeaters.

A total of 38 nursing graduates took the Licensure Examination for Nurses in the year 2007.

SUBJECT AREA OF LICENSURE EXAMINATION

The Licensure examination for nurses is divided into five (5) subject areas. Table 1 presents the subject description of the five (5) subject areas as well as the code.

PART I

PASSING RATE

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) issued a certification regarding the Institutional Performance of Jose C. Feliciano College and the National Passing Percentage in the Licensure Examination for Nurses last June 2007 and December 2007. The actual school performance data is as follows:

The table shows that 53.33% of the examinees passed the Licensure Examination last June 2007. This rate exceeds the national passing percentage of 43.45%. It is a good indicator the school offer quality education for its graduate.

The table shows that 47.83% of the nursing students who took the board examination last December 2007 passed and surpassed the national passing percentage of 43.45%. Among the 14 who failed the examination 85.71% are first timers.

The table shows that 53.33% of the examinees passed the Licensure Examination for Nurses. The overall rating of the June 2007, December 2007 and the combined figures for the Year 2007 are equal, 53.33%.

PART II

DATA ANALYSIS

The Analysis of data includes the Scores of the examinees during the June 2007 and December 2007 Licensure Examination for Nurses.

The Scores of the repeaters in the two data sets were both included in the analysis.
