Hayley, Josh, Zac, and Jeremy are the original members of the band. Jeremy left the band in 2005, but then he came back a few months later. Taylor York started playing with Paramore in April 2007.

In 2002, when she was 13, Hayley Williams moved from her hometown Meridian, Mississippi to Franklin, Tennessee where she met the brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro while she went to a private school and started to take singing lessons with a man named Brett Manning. Then Hayley Williams joined Jeremy Davis in a funk band called "The Factory", while Josh and Zac practiced together after school. They didn't feel good about having a female as their lead vocalist, but because they were good friends, Hayley started writing for them. The band was officially formed with Josh Farro, Zac Farro, Jeremy Davis and Hayley Williams, in 2004, in Franklin, Tennessee, USA. They played their first show in Nashville, and made a local fan base. After a few months of gigging, the band has their first big break in early 2005, when John Janick saw them at a gig in Florida, and signed tem to a label.

The band's name "Paramore" came from the maiden name of the mother of one of their first bass players. Once they learned the meaning of the word "paramour" (secret lover), they decided to use the name, but using the Paramore spelling.

The single that made the band known around the world was called "Misery Business" from the album "Riot!" in 2007.
