The phone call came in, and my worst nightmare had just become reality. My life had just been turned upside down. My Grandpa had just been diagnosed with sclerosis of the liver. Being 13, I didn't really understand how bad this really was. My grandpa owned a bar called "The Mill," so I know he had been drinking his whole life. I feared exactly what I didn't want to hear. My mom, Maxi, got to my Pa's house and found him lying on the floor again but this time he couldn't get up. My mom was fed up this time and she stated

"Dad we are going to the hospital!"

"NO I am not going to that dang hospital Maxi!!"

"Yes you are dad! Either I am taking you or we are getting an ambulance now which one do u want!!?"

"I want you...."

They got to the hospital and they admitted my Pa immediately. My Pa was sitting on the hospital bed and waiting for the doctor to come in and tell him everything was ok and he could go home but instead the doctor came in and stated

"Max you're going to die so there is no need to for us to treat you"

"What's a matter doctor??"

"Maxi your dad has scrosis to the liver there is absolutely nothing we can do for him but keep him here a few days and suck all the liquid out of his body before he bust"

My Pa stayed in the hospital for a week and I visited him every chance my mom would let me. It was hard for her to let me see him in that stage of sickness. I would sit there and feed him his food and tell him I love him with all my heart and he could make it through this because he was tough, but what I didn't know was that he was slowly dying inside. When we thought he was getting better, I asked mom if grandpa was going to get out and come back home with us. She replied yes baby he is getting better right then the doctor pulled my mom out of the room and told her that he only has a couple more hours to live and my mom denied the truth and didn't accept it into her mind. That day he got out of the hospital and told my mom when he got better he wanted to go to Red Lobster and my mom smiled and said that we would. When they got to my Pa's house, Hospice was there and had his bed set up. Before my grandpa sat down he had my mom help him to his safe in his room. He retrieved five diamond rings for his kids, and then, asked my mom to give me a bigger version of his necklace to wear for my birthday. Grandpa climbed into bed and asked my mom if he would see his mom and dad in heaven, and she said yes daddy you will my grandpa fell asleep.

A couple hours later my mom tried to wake him up so that he could eat but it was too late my Pa had already gone
