Career Plan
The economic environment that I grew up in, did not offer me a lot of insight into the job market in reference to career options. I have studied for professions not by choice but by the simple fact that my high school grades could qualify me to undertake them. As I gain more insight into the job market and my personality trait, I have been able to choose a career that can efficiently propel me for the future that I had always dreamed of; it is computer system analyst. How do I get there? I have developed a career plan that in turn has been divided into five sections: career choice, career position description, transferable skills, personality traits, and goals. Analyzing these subtopics from career choice through setting goals have actually re-enforced and straightened my path to the future of becoming a system security analyst, and by so doing I can never overemphasize the importance of a career plan.
Career Choice
I am hands on person: learn by touch and by sight, a problem solver by nature. According to the bureau of labor statistics, the employment of computer systems analysts is expected to grow 22 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average of all occupations. As organizations across the world become more reliant on information technology (IT), workers in this occupation will be hired to design and install new computer systems. The unprecedented growth in wireless and mobile networks will create a need for new systems that work well with these networks. These have become a motivating factor for me since the job market grows competitive every day. I chose Westwood College because of their high performance rating for IT graduates, small classroom sizes and accelerated programs. I have no doubt that obtaining a bachelor degree in computer system security will enable me do research on emerging technologies to decide if installing them can increase the organization's efficiency and effectiveness
Career Position Description
Being computer systems analysts requires studying an organization's current computer systems and procedures and make recommendations to management to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively (Computer Systems Analysts, 2012). I will be in center of bringing business and information technology together by understanding the needs and limitations of both (Computer Systems Analysts, 2012). To hold this position, I will need to have my bachelor's degree in a computer or information science. Computer systems analysts require a high level involvement in the business side of a company, it may be helpful to take business courses or major in management information systems (Computer Systems Analysts, 2012). Though, computer systems analyst is a high demand area in the field of IT, it requires lots of hard work and skill to be in such position. Obtaining my bachelor's degree from Westwood College will give me a great advantage to climb the career ladder very fast. I would have a preference to work for one of the top ten businesses in the nation's club 100 businesses directly overseeing installation and configuring the systems to customize them for the organization.
Transferable Skills
The skills that I posses in the area of business management and computer application can give me a hand in becoming computer systems analysts. My first job after college was in the field of sales and marketing, where I had the privilege to learn about the business environment and the overlapping
