Cultural Competency Assessment of a Community-Based Program

The agency I choose to do my report on was the Arizona Department of Children Youth and Family services to do my report on. I did an interview before with Michael Carr, at DCYF. Some of his answers pertained to this assignment, and there ones that I could not locate, so I contacted Michael Carr once again for help. He directed me to the websites where I could locate the information that I needed.

There are many assessments that the Department of Economic Security makes use of. They use one for their offices; they use many other assessments for their clients. They help people that are homeless, they help families, individuals, people with addictions, disabled, or who have some type if mental disabilities. Below one will find what the assessments are about, a brief history, population served, the mission statement from their website, the demographics, their annual budget, their source of budget, and why they have to revamp their finances, and the Cultural Competence Assessment Tools found on University of Phoenix library.

Assessment

In 2004 the Department of Economic Services began to do a self-assessment of the organizational makeup to recognize opportunity for alterations that would permit additional incorporated service deliverance for enhanced out-comes with new liberations. Population served. The population served is a wide variety of people. They offer services to people that are homeless, in which they receive food stamps, and training for a job. There are many populations served within the department of children youth and family services.

Services offered

DCYF primarily accesses behavioral health services through the public behavioral health in AZ for children. Arizona has a very generous array of behavioral health services for adults and children in the public health system. In cases, where children or families do not meet the eligibility standards for AHCCCS, DCYF will contract with behavioral health providers in the community to provide the needed services. They will then continue to do a review throughout the year and then compare the (State of Arizona Workforce Report, 2011).

Staff and client makeup

The staff and client makeup vary. After speaking with Roxanne Miller: who is another agent that works for DES in Phoenix, Arizona? She also sent a couple of links to look at for the staff and client makeup and this is what was found.
