The Beauty in Life (Descriptive Story)
It was just another cold, rainy and windy day of summer school. I walked into the classroom smelling the scholastic aroma of chalk dust and uncapped markers. My professor walks into the room with the same old clothes: stained white dress shirt, light brown slacks with a slight tear above the right knee, and those same beaten up black shoes that he loved to call comfortable. Although this seemed like another ordinary day at school, my life was going to change forever. The professor continues to get off topic and talk about his son's medical degree in cardiology instead of discussing the British Literature at hand. No surprise there. I saw the same beautiful woman (Natalie) that always sat in front of me with her silky black curly hair, those luscious lips, those big sweet eyes, and that mouthwatering body. I continued to daydream about the dates that me and Natalie would go on. I would take her to the nicest Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, the best bars in Hollywood, and finish the dates off with showing her the best views at the top of every mountain. But something would interrupt that daydream. It was a phone call from my sister with words that I never thought I'd hear, "Gaurav, we got a puppy!" I hated dogs at the time because I had been chased up a hill and bitten by a dog years earlier leaving me scarred for life even when seeing the smallest poodle. Clearly, I wasn't excited at first but instead, shocked, questioning how my parents would even let this happen in the first place. My sister has went to such desperate attempts to get a dog in the past 10 years including taking my parents to a shelter showing them dogs that were abused and needed a home. Some dogs were small, others huge. Some were white, others black, more of them mixed. As I drove home on the 405 Freeway, a Black Honda went flying in circles across the freeway almost hitting my White Audi. I slammed on the brakes; the Honda passed me and slammed into three other cars. From there on, the four cars slammed right into the side wall. I continued home in a shocking panic, but was calmed at the sight of the most beautiful dog ever seen. He had four colors (White, brown, black, and tan), the biggest brown eyes, and was a mix between a Doxen and a Chihuahua which many say are the two ugliest breeds in the world. I don't know how, but this little one turned out oddly handsome. His paws were tiny; he shivered even in warm weather, and his bones sticking out as if he's been hungry since birth. Still scared, I barely managed to touch the little guy and his cold, hungry body. He wouldn't eat any dog food so I proposed the idea to feed him boiled chicken which eventually turned out to be an amazing idea. He chomped it down as fast as possible like a lion after it catches its prey. He drank water like a camel that had no water left in his humps. He slept like a new born baby
