In today's society, there are many different situations that occur within the criminal justice system. The criminal justice system is supposed to provide equal rights, due process, and fair and equitable treatment for all members of society, however sometimes that is not the case. There are numerous people in society todays who feel as if the world is still prejudice. This paper will compare and contrast the involvement of disparity and discrimination and how it exists within the criminal justice system. It will also address how disparity and discrimination plays a major role in law enforcement, court procedures, and correctional facilities. There certain cases within the criminal justice system where disparity can be a results of discrimination depending upon the situation.

[The difference between disparity and discrimination would be disparity is a lack of similarity or equality and discrimination is when you see something that is different from everything else. It can be an individual, and or a group of people. Those same individuals are sometimes judged or treated different.] Discrimination is a part of everyday life. It is an unfair treatment of one person or group of others, usually because of being prejudice, ethnicity, age, religion, or gender.
