Midterm Exam Review Sheet
MBA624-MSF624 (Spring 2016)
IMPORTANT:
- Honor Code: In completing the exam, you must not give help to anyone or receive help from anyone. You must not share the questions on this test, nor the answers to this test with anyone.
- Rounding: Due to rounding, the answer you compute may not exactly match any of the options listed. Therefore, you must choose the option which comes closest to what you have computed.
- Cautionary Note: As you enter your answers to each question in Blackboard, write down the answers on a piece of paper. Keep it in the rare event that there is a technical difficulty.
- There are 50 multiple-choice questions on the exam, each at 2 points; total 100 points.
- The exam will be visible in Assignments area from 8 a.m. Friday, April 29 – 8 a.m. Monday, May 2.
- From when you BEGIN the exam, you have 3 hours to complete and submit your answers.
- When the 3 hours are up, the test will be submitted automatically.
- You may use your book and all statistical tables in it.
- You may use your calculator.
- You may use any and all notes and/or course material that you wish.
- Use Excel and/or PHStat. In fact, you will not be able to finish this test in the allotted 3 hours if you do not use software.
- Since you are allowed to use software, this item is irrelevant. However, if you wish, you may use the built-in functions of your calculator (such as simple regression, descriptive statistics, combinations, permutations, etc). Throughout the course, you’ve had access to course resources (such as videos) related to those features of the TI BA II Plus. If you are in an evening section and don’t know how to locate those videos, please ask your professor.
Time Saving Tools
- Remember to use time-saving tools that are available to you such as Excel, PHStat, and the built-in functions of your calculator.
- Also, when taking the test, check the statistical tables (binomial, Poisson). If they have the entries needed for the exam problems, you might be able to read off a quick answer or two (which could save you time).
Time Management Advice
- You have an average of 3.6 minutes per question. Keep your pace.
- A couple of questions may require general knowledge and may be answered in a short amount of time without any computation.
- If you know a problem is time-consuming for you, skip it and come back to it when you have completed the rest of the exam!
- If you find yourself spending “too much” time on a single problem, skip it and come back to it later when you have finished the test. It is not worth running out of time on a question which is worth only a couple of points.
- Most problems are threaded, so you may have to spend some time to set up and solve the problem, but then the outcome can be used to answer multiple questions.
Exam Content and Coverage
The exam will cover material from chapters 1 – 6 of our text. It is multiple-choice, and graded out of 100 points. There are 50 questions on the test, each worth 2 points. Several are short ones, which you should be able to do quickly.
- 10 questions from chapters 1&2
- 10 questions from chapters 3
- 10 questions from chapter 4
- 10 questions from chapter 5
- 10 questions from chapter 6
The following is not an exhaustive list of what is on the test. But, it is a good collection of what you must review and know for the exam, and what you should take-away from this class.
