Does God Want to Hear Our Complaints?

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused...Numbers 11:1

Why do we complain when things don't go the way we want them to? Most Christians have heard the Lord's Prayer, some know it by heart. One part says, "thy will be done." This means we are praying for God's will to done in every circumstance in our life. The Israelites complained numerous times after God delivered them from the Egyptians, where they were being held as slaves. They complained about the food God provided for them. God provided them with manna, quail, and water while they were in the desert.

We as Christians often pray to God and ask him for His will to be done in our lives and then complain and grumble about the outcome. God hears our prayers but He also hears us complaining and grumbling.

When I was growing up, one thing that made my dad really mad was if we complained about the meal that my mom prepared for us. So, I can only imagine why God can get so angry when we complain about what He provides for us. We must learn to appreciate the things God does provide and does not provide for us. God knows what is best for us, so no matter what the outcome our eyes and hearts should always focus on God.
