Education plays a critical role in a country. But in different countries, under different cultural backgrounds, the education system is different. Here, this essay would show you the comparisons and contrasts between the UK education system and china education system.

The school year in the UK and China are similar in that they run from September to July.  However, the school year is divided into three terms of approximately 13 weeks each in the UK.  In contrast, the school year usually consists of two semesters of about 14 weeks each in China.  

By law, most children in the UK go to primary school from age of 5 to 11.  In China, on the other hand, children need to go to primary school from age 6 to 12.  Both British school and Chinese school are largely co-educational, this means that boys and girls attend together. The main subjects in the UK are English, maths, science.  In the same way, In China, the curriculum also includes the Chinese language.

Most students in the UK move to a secondary school at the age of 11, whereas, most students in China go to middle school at the age of 12 and go to high school from the age 15 to 18. Both secondary school and middle and high school are similar in that they teach students all abilities.

At the end of time of school, students in both countries need to take exams to enter university.  China is different from the UK because each university sets its own entry score, whereas all the British universities accept students with good A level results.

Even though the education system in both countries are different, the purpose of education in both countries are same, aiming of give high quality education for their young people.
