Energy Resource Plan

Conserving energy is very important for the future of our planet. Most of the energy produced today is being used at very high rates and is the main contributor to most of our pollution problems. It is very important that energy consumption rates are slowed; at least until cleaner ways are found to produce energy. Another tangible benefit of conserving energy is that the consumer will save money. Although conserving energy will change the way we live to some extent, there are dramatic benefits that will not only benefit the environment and the current population, but also each successive generation to come.

There are two types of energy sources; one is renewable and the other is nonrenewable. Nonrenewable energy comes from oil, natural gas, and coal. Oil, natural gas, and coal are the three most used energy resources, but there are many problems associated with using them. First, these resources are nonrenewable, so they are always in limited supply and will eventually be depleted. In addition, using these resources produces harmful chemicals that pollute the land, water, and air in our environment, which is currently the only life-supporting environment known to exist in the entire universe. Renewable energy, on the other hand, will be in existence as long as the planet is functioning normally. Some examples of renewable energy sources are solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal energy. The best part is that none of these renewable energy sources pollutes our environment.

There is no doubt that oil, coal, and natural gas are very useful for many reasons, but at their current rates of use they are being exploited to their limits and are producing too much pollution for our environment to withstand. As a result, there is a dire need for everyone to begin conserving energy and find economical ways to use renewable energy sources instead. We as humans can do our part personally to contribute in energy conservation and helping to sustain the environment through using more energy efficient appliances which can be a bit costly at first but will save energy, the environment, and ourselves money in the long run. We as consumers can purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs that use less energy and last longer than incandescent light bulbs. And the next time you're looking to purchase a new vehicle that is fuel efficient like a hybrid car which combines gasoline engines and electric motors.

We can decrease some of the car that is on the freeway and the highway by carpooling. We could also try to use more items that can be recycled and less of the items that can not be recycled tuning off lights when you are away from home will save money, and the use of fossil fuels to create the electricity. Also we can do to save energy and help the environment is to buy rechargeable batteries. They last longer and save you money in the end. When a regular
