One of the big problems is that He is a lack of experience Manager handling his current job. Peterson has not experience of launch of new products and not experience in Bio-Medical products like the catheter. In addition, his immediately supervisor is also inexperienced to the industry. Peterson has a big problem with his team or direct reports.
At the beginning He believed that he was reporting directly to Richard Jenkins, but later He discovered that his direct supervisor was Jeff Hardy, Hardy was also inexperienced employee in this area and cannot offer any guidance or support to him, and the relationship between them is hard and ambiguous.
Peterson should have indicate this problem almost immediately after he realized this; however with this new Organization Chart, he should contact Jenkins right now (Before February 29th) and request a support form the organization, Jenkins is a person with very high influence in the organization and considering how important is this product for all the company, Peterson should suggest to hire a VP peripheral vascular with good experience in the area, knowledge of this kind or products and even better with experience in Launch of new products that could help not only Peterson but Hardy as well.
Also his Team is a lack of experience, not really focus in what is important to get this project done, and worry about other issues as salary comparisons and internal relationship. To solve this problems he should talk to the upper managers and express the potential problem for this launch and try to get support to re-organize his team, including change of personnel like Andrew that even was very good in other product line; Peterson consider that he has not the flexibility and resourcefulness that require his position. Also probably he need to consider find a new role for Burns because he is creating a problem inside the team (Westcott and burns cannot work together) and Burns also is lack of experience to offer any add value to this project, so moving his Team would finish with some of the problems like salary difference and his own perception about the opinion of his team, due his quick promotion from product manager to general manager. The other factor is about the Key Opinion Leaders - KOL, That Peterson considered so important for this project ( Besides the lack of support from Hardy to new offers from Peterson ) , the incorporation of Scott Green and his assistant Karen cantor to the team, was an issue that you cannot let move alone inside the project, because of the problems experienced with Green. Peterson should find the way to have a clear discussion with Green, apologize by his previous report, if it was necessary and request more support from Green in order to get the KOL part done as planned, and like he mention ask that Cantor report to him or at least be informed of all the progress or obstacles find with the doctors (KOL).
Another big issue is about the commercial manufacturing
