Formulate the problem
We found that the sales result of the PUMA Company is less than expected sales in the first line and this became the issue for this case study. There are some reasons we chose sales problem as the issue for our case study.
The objectives of our case study are to allow us more understand about PUMA Company, to allow us to identify the causes of the problem that occurs in PUMA Company, and to allows us to find out the solutions towards the problem and explore the ways to improve the performance of the company.
During the research, we identified the environmental factors of the PUMA Company. For the demographic environment, there is the lack of social acceptance of Puma brand from the upper class customers because they considered the brand always has poor quality and were sold to poor people. Besides, there is the change in customers taste and style. For example there was high demand for fashion apparel tend. This change in customers demand influenced the sales of the PUMA Company. For the economic environment, there is a big market change when sports brand became more dynamic and consumers taste diversified into new and high price. The political factors are the economic situation of Germany which is the home economy of PUMA also affects the company.
After identifying the three environmental factors of the PUMA Company, we understood the causes of the problem that occurs in PUMA Company and we are able to find out the solutions towards the problem. We have an interview with some workers of the PUMA Company which located in Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur and the workers provided lots of information about the issue of the PUMA Company and some suggestions about the solutions towards the problem.
We stated several methods to take actions in order to settle the problem that currently occurs in PUMA Company. Through the solutions we found to overcome the issues, there will be some positive changes about the sales result of the PUMA Company and it will be an improvement of the performance of the PUMA Company.
