Strategic Plan, Part One

Forever More Bakery specializes in one of a kind wedding cake designs. The bakery's distinctive style can add an exquisite and unique touch to any couple's wedding. The idea of this business is express a couple's originality and to add joy to their special day. To be triumphant in this endeavor, it is vital to design a company mission and vision statement, outline company values, and determine the strategic direction Forever More Bakery will take.

A company's mission is, "the unique purpose that sets a company apart from others of its type and identifies the scope of its operation in product, market, and technology terms" (Pearce, Robinson, 2009 p.). Forever More Bakery's mission is to produce and market the most innovative and best quality designed wedding cakes for happy couples across the nation. The company will accomplish this by employing the finest people, providing superior customer service and care, and by achieving environmental responsibility.

Forever More Bakery's innovative designs and superior customer service is how the bakery differentiates itself from competition. By continuing to hire visionary employees and implementing modern technology, Forever More Bakery will provide the bride and groom with a one of a kind cake. The main competition currently for Forever More Bakery in Portland is Helen Bernhard Bakery. Customers have the choice of going to a traditional, established, high price bakery or coming to a bakery with moderate prices and new ideas. This is how Forever More Bakery will create a niche for itself in this market.

With this niche, the vision for Forever More Bakery is to become the number one choice for wedding planners and to develop a brand name that inspires trust. A strategic vision "portrays a company's future business scope" (Thompson, Gamble, Strickland 2006, p 18.). Forever More Bakery will communicate its vision with a catchy slogan; this slogan is to bring innovation and originality to every wedding across the States. The potential vision provides for a synergistic work environment and the eventual success will be achieved from acquiring the strong values and principles, which are derived from the mission and vision statements.

"Values are practical habits that enable us as individuals to live, be successful and achieve happiness" (Pierce, Robinson 2009, p. 45). Forever More Bakery's values enable the company to realize their vision statement. Forever More Bakery will have a value aligned work culture that will encompass six key principals. These principals are pride, honesty, self- motivated, teamwork, objectivity, and social responsibility. Each employee will develop a sense of pride as he or she see the results of his or her hard work and have the knowledge that Forever More Bakery is a company with integrity. All employees including the owner will stay connected to the reality of the bakery business and be responsible for maintaining their word to all consumers and fellow employees, never promising more than they can deliver. The bakery owner expects all their employees to have strong personal goals, a strong work ethic and to be self-motivated. This leads to a positive work environment and long-term success. Each employee of Forever More Bakery must be consistent on the agreed upon objective to reaching the bakery's goals. Each employee must be supportive of other individual's diversities. Every individual will be rewarded based on his or her contribution to the success of the Forever More Bakery team. All employees and management of the bakery will engage in rational thinking.
