Although there is much concern for the global economy, the Dow rose on Thursday and broke its four day losing streak. Many of the Dow's 30 Index companies were up however, the pack is being led by the index's oldest component, General Electric. GE's banking division has experienced some growth while the conglomerate continues to establish multi billion dollar contracts which has helped the stock jump up just over 2.5% for the day. As always, protests and civil unrest in Greece and Spain have investors concerned but some promising economic reports and a reduction in jobless claims may indicate a shed of light at the end of the tunnel.
