Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Opening statement (Prosecution)

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the defendant, Goldilocks, is accused of breaking and entering, damage to property, stalking . Goldilocks should be proven guilty of all these things- c'mon, whould you want someone in your house when you weren't home?! And worst of all this vicious criminal even took the bears food. What if these supplies were all the bears lived on? Anyway, my clients and I are convinced:

1. Goldilocks broke into the Bears' home while they were out - Goldilocks had been watching the Bears' house for weeks to see when the Bears' would be out, ( stalking) so she could break in without being caught.

2. Goldilocks had seen them take mushrooms in their house, and wanted to steal them.

3. Goldilocks was high (intoxicated) on mushrooms when she broke into house - Goldilocks had previous experience with drugs (reference to Grandmother)

4. Goldilocks damaged Wee Bear's chair/ ate Wee Bears porridge.

Opening Statement (Defense)

How you guys doing today? Good? Well my client and I are aren't doing so hot...this little girl is being accused of crimes that she was not fully aware of committing, such as previously stated breaking and entering, damage to property, stalking. Is this a crime or curiosity? Do you really want to convict a little girl of such heinous charges?

2. Prosecution (Witness)

I'd like to call my first witness to the stand, Ms. Ginger locks.

Prosecutor: How you doing today Ging?

Gingerlocks: Uh, I could be better.

Prosecutor: That's good. So can you tell me you're relation to Ms. Goldilocks?

Gingerlocks: Well, Golds is my cousin, we've always been really close until recently.

Prosecutor: And why's this? Why aren't you two as close as previously were?

Gingerlocks: Golds started making me...watch people and stuff. Ya know? She recently started being obsessed with the bears, so a while back--

Prosecutor: a while back? What date or month approx?

Gingerlocks: Sorry, about a month ago. So...November. she asked me to go to pick berries with her and we'd usually I'd this so I agreed, but I should have known. We actually ended in front of the bears house and she said we'd watch them for a while? We kept on doing this for a couple of weeks....I felt kind of bad.

Prosecutor: Golds seems like she forced you to do this? Would you agree with me?

Gingerlocks: Yeah, forced....she totally did.

Prosecutor: Hmm, no further questions.

3. Defense (Cross Examine)

Defense: So...you're saying that yourself and my client aren't as close as before because of her "forcing" you to watch the bears with you?

Gingerlocks: Yeah...I guess so.

Defense: Well, is that Golds fault? Was she physically holding you down, or in any type of way restraining you from watching the bears?

Gingerlocks: No...buu-

Prosecutor: So you had a choice, you chose to stay....and my clients being charged with stalking? You don't think you were doing the same thing?

Gingerlocks: Well, no I didn't ask to go...she told me to, so I did.

Prosecutor: she told me to, so I did?.... Mmm. No further questions.

4. Defense (Witness)

Defense: I'd like to call my witness the Grandmother of Goldilocks to the stand(guardian)

Defense: How would you classify Goldilocks family life?

Grandmother: Well, like any child Goldilocks acts up but beside that, she's a sweet and honest girl.

Defense: I see, and completely agree with you. But according to previous records this is not Goldilocks first home. Correct? She originally lived with her mother?

Grandmother: Yes, that is correct and did live with her mother, my daughter...she was not fit for a child...

Defense: And why do you say this? She was a mother, I'm sure she was trying her best.

Grandmother: Psh...her best? During her pregnancy she did mushrooms, lots of them! Goldilocks came out as addicted as she was, there was no helping her.

Defense: When did Goldilocks start to live with you?

Grandmother: About a month ago.

Defense: When she came with you, did she act up in any way, mushroom related?

Grandmother: All her life, her mother had let her freely use these toxics, so her living with me...was horrible at first because she couldn't have her usual supply, So to answer your question of course she acted up.

Defense: Would you say she had an unhealthy and unpreventable relationship with mushrooms?

Grandmother: Yes

Defense: Would you say it was her own fault or genetics and the habitual of her mother?

Grandmother: Sadly, her mother did this to my poor granddaughter.

Defense: No further questions.

5. Prosecution (Cross Examine)

Prosecution: Had you always known of Goldilocks unhealthy relationships with mushrooms?

Grandmother: Yes, I had always known of this.

Prosecution: I see. And even with this knowledge you didn't seek to find help, rehab centers? Treatment? Doctors?

Grandmother: There wasn't much I could do when she was with her mother, but when she started to stay with me, I'd try to keep her involved in activites and berry picking. Things like that...constructive things.

Prosecution:
