Advice to Chris
As a Human Resource major, I often struggle with the same thing as Chris Ruggiero does. I love interacting with people and getting to know them which I am grateful I get to do but on the other hand in the Human resources field there are times where it is filled with paperwork, laws, and being the barrier of bad news. I have worked in a technology company as a Human Resources intern, which has been enjoyable, but when it comes to those not fun times it is often hard to push through. As far as my advice and what I have learned I would say to use your personality and passion in every aspect of what you do. As Chris Ruggiero stated, he dreads sending emails and that is probably because it is monotonous and boring. My suggestion would be too make it fun; you can add a quote of the day in there or a picture to grab attention. I think that it would make it more enjoyable for you and also is a way to show who you are through something that is normally black and white.
When it comes to Chris’s challenge of getting his name out there, I would suggest a few things I have learned while working on the marketing portion of my team. I would say the huge thing right now as everyone knows is social media, more specifically Instagram. Instagram is turning average people into celebrity’s and making them tons of money. I searched Chris’s instagram and he has a good amount of followers but if he could focus on growing it even larger it would defiantly boost his visibility and opportunities. Chris could do this through consistent posting, quality hastages, cross promotion and videos. I think Chris should post more videos of his amazing acts because that is what will really draw followers in. Since Chris has such a strong passion in inspiring others and emphasis the importance of always “showing up”, I think it would be a interesting idea for him to use the phrase “just show up” to create a brand for himself. His experiences and attitude are something that is unique to him and will stand out among others. Overall, in all of these tools it is important to let his personality shine because that is what is going to continue to get him business.
