Life really isn't fair at all. I was standing there in the hallway with an adrenaline in my heart. We made it all the way to the end, we came so far but, it was too late. A few minutes ago I was walking down the hallway finding my way through the hospital trying to find the door to Peeta's room. When I heard Haymitch's voice he ran to me saying he wants to tell me something.

"What do you want to tell me?" I said.

He said. "I'm really sorry Katniss. He didn't make it."

"What do you mean that he didn't make it? Who are you talking about?"

"Peeta didn't make it. I'm sorry to tell you this but he's dead."

"What? I don't get it. I swear Peeta was fine when we left. They said they were going to take care of him!"

"There wasn't enough time sweetheart."

The words made a big hole through my heart. "But, he can't be dead."

"Peeta really was a great kid, had a big heart." And then he walked away, leaving me on my own.

I couldn't move at all, thinking that this was all a big lie. How can he be dead? He had become someone I could fully trust. Someone that I knew that was right by my side. Now there is no way I could ever repay him for everything he had done for me.

My feelings were really messed up from all the stress from the games, all the scary scenes I'd seen, all the dangers I survived. You'd think everything will be alright when it's not. I never thought I would ever lose him. I'm feeling broken right now. It wasn't like I wanted him to be my husband, but he was a really good friend. Yes, that's what he was, a good friend.
