Never bring your boyfriend or girlfriend over your house while your parents are home. I say this because one day, I decided to do so. In the end, my dad came in the room and caught him in there with me. Punishment and a long month of not having any type of communication with the outside world were the consequences of my actions.
June 19, 2011 was the exact day. It was a Sunday. My dad had just finished putting me on punishment the Friday before for coming back from my boyfriends' 2011 Nottingham Senior Ball event at 5am; technically without permission... Since I was on punishment, I knew that my dad wouldn't' allow me to see my boyfriend. Therefore, I decided to go against the grain and have him secretly come over.
As we were texting and being mischievous, we decided upon the time of 3am that he was going to arrive at my house. We chose that time because we figured that everyone, mainly my dad, would be sleeping around that time. The time was 1am, so I set my alarm and decided to take a well deserved nap.
Ring ring! The time was 2:30am, I was completely exhausted. I got up, brushed my teeth and took a shower, awaiting my boyfriends' arrival. He texted right on time, around 3am, telling me that he had climbed the tree in front of my house to get to the window of my room, which was on the second floor. I was shocked because I didn't believe him when he said that he ACTUALLY climbed that tall tree. But he did, just for me.
After a while of lying down and hanging out, D and I fell asleep in each others' arms. Suddenly, we hear a banging on my bedroom door... It was my father. I didn't know what to do, it was so unexpected and in a way, unorthodox. Nervous, I told D to hide on my sisters' side of the bedroom, which was blocked off by a curtain. He obeyed my command. I opened the door, questioning my father as to what exactly he wanted out of my life. He ignored me and busted through my bedroom door. Immediately, he took a look behind the curtain and saw my boyfriend standing there in shock, much like a deer in headlights. I thought my father was going to beat him senseless but instead he calmly told him to get out of the house. That was the worst part because he didn't say it in anger, but much more in a sense of complete and utter disappointment.
When it comes to your family, your boyfriends, girlfriends, and regular day-to-day friends and acquaintances, your family is what comes first. Don't risk them and their trust over people that can always be replaced. Most importantly, always remember to never, ever bring your boyfriend or girlfriend over while your parents are home, unless you're up for a rude awakening.
