If I Looked Like You: Eugenics
Nazi Germany's goal was to make a species of humans which Adolph Hitler perceived as "better" through eugenics. Eugenics, defined from the dictionary, is the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits . Hitler described his superior pure race physically with blonde hair and blue eyes which is pretty funny actually, because in modern times blonde hair people are made fun of for being spacey! However, since post Nazi Germany, eugenics have been looked down upon although this idea of creating a superior human race was never really ignored. We see examples of eugenics in many sci-fi media throughout post-World War II. Although, imagine that if the extreme practice of eugenics still existed today, or maybe even a regulated version of it! Imagine what will be different racially, medically, and religiously.
Imagine the racial diversity or lack of. We will all have basically the same physical traits. How boring will that be? I mean for all men and women who like some chocolate, caramel, or exotic cake... well I'm sorry there will only be vanilla cake with some yellow frosting on top, using Hitler's version, for the picking. However, for the sake of human superiority this is a must according to eugenics. It could very possibly be an efficient process in creating an enhance human race, but it will definitely make a very boring one. It almost makes a race without passion and beauty. Science will replace passion by engineering humans to be genetically better which literally makes the human race into a science project for some geeks . We will all be proportioned to all look the same! Where is the beauty in that? As Francis Bacon once said, "there are no beauties that have not some strangeness about its proportions" and he's right whoever he is! Just look at Keira Knightley. She is just an ironing board with a face, but she works!
However, the medical possibilities would be more advance! Nazi Germany made lots of advancements medically due to their studies on live humans at their concentration . Now imagine today with the more understanding about the human species such as the human genome. This has created a field in genetic engineering that is redefining eugenics. In the world famous video game, Halo, they genetically engineered super soldiers, called Spartans, to fight the covenant, aliens, in this galactic war . However, today it is illegal to make human clones, or any experimentation with live humans which makes advancement limited, but what if eugenics was widely accepted! Not to eradicate races, but just to improve humans as a species .
