Health and Dental Benefits have always been a cause of disagreement in the employment arena. Employers do not want to foot the bill for health and dental benefits, because as a rule these benefits are normally very costly for an employer. According to the United States Census Bureau, for every American without health insurance, there are three without dental insurance, nearly half of the US population, which causes 164 million missed working hours. During the overall discussions on health care reform in the United States, very little attention is given to one aspect of medicine that has changed dramatically over the last several years, slowing crawling towards the same problems that are faced in other areas being focus on with health care reform: dental health. Medical Heath is costly also creatingMedical Health and dental insurance is just as costly and in some instances unaffordable for most individuals.

With that being said, the union wants the is seeking a lower contribution rate for health and dental insurance. We would like to promote the need for a larger roster of providers offered through your health insurance plans. We are aware that your company has some clout with local and/or regional insurance companies and therefore can and will be compensated. Employees would like to incorporate some type of family health plan unless the spouse and/or family of employee is covered under and alternated plan (i.e. spouse's place of employment) Also, there are some geographical limitations for employees who need to use approved providers, request that primary care physicians be no more than 15 miles from place of employment. We would also like to include the use of specialty services without the need for a referral from the primary care physician. We also want insurance policies to be adjusted to cover services by cardiologists and other specialists. Request employer contributes 65% investment to medical and dental insurance, to aid in keeping workers on the job. Alternative prescription plans with higher deductibles or co-pays are also an alternative to aid in lowering employee's costs. Short- and long-term disability and vision care are also appealing low-cost to paying a percentage of insurance premiums. Request employer keep the contribution process transparent to build trust with employees throughout the company. Employees are willing to contribute to a health savings accounts (HSA) as supplements to heath and dental insurance. We are aware that Health savings accounts are attached to our insurance policies which will provide a means of saving money for future medical costs. We also know that the maintenance of these accounts costs nothing for the company and allows the employees to conserve money.
