Intel Analysis
Who is Intel?
Intel is the biggest manufacturing company for semiconductors, microprocessors, network interface controllers, flash memory, motherboard chipsets, and more. It is also the world's largest chip maker and one of the world's greatest innovators, setting the designs for many of today's technology such as ram, cpus, and flash memory.
History
The two most prominent names in Intel would be its founders, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore. Robert Noyce received his Ph.D. in physical electronics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1953 and he is the co-founder for both Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation, and Intel. Gordon Moore attended the University of California and went on to receive his Ph.D. in chemistry and physics from the California Institute of Technology. These two young men revolutionized the way computers worked, with the invention of microchips, and unknowingly also created the now famous Silicon Valley. As of today, 22 years after his death, Robert Noyce is considered one of the most important figures in computer history. Back in 1968, these two men decided to quit their job and to create their own company. These engineers had a very clear idea of what they wanted their company to be, and to do, and were so convincing that they persuaded a capitalist, Art Rock, to raise $2.5 million for the company, in just two days.
Competitors and Valuation
From a one written page of dreams, laid out by Mr. Noyce, to a multimillion, multinational company, throughout the years, Intel has demonstrated great escalation in success in all of its endeavors. And it doesn't seem as their success has slowed down, even when the economy took deep plunges. This is a company that means business, that is focused on adjusting to meet demands and on providing the best products on the market. Looking at their financial statements of the past few years, the company's profits and sales rose 24% from 2009 to 2010, with their earning per shares up 166% during the same period. Their most fierce competitor is Advanced Micro Devices, a multinational company that was founded just one year after Intel, in 1969. AMD did not have the same financial resources when they started, with their initial capital only $100,000. Other competitors include Samsung, Texas Instruments Inc., Toshiba Corporation, and NEC Corporation.
Employment
This is the type of company that I would like to work for, because I can tell from their success that they are serious, and that they are a knowledgeable company. Their motto is "Brilliance loves company" and, though I don't think of myself as a "brilliant" mind, I know that I could mingle with those minds, due to the fact that I am a quick learner,
