Intercultural Communication- is the process of sending and receiving messages between people whose cultural background are different.
Thanks to communication and transportation technologies, businesses now have new horizon, meaning with all the new cultures in the U.S. They help businesses reach different parts of the world.
Opportunities in Russia
-Russia offers many business opportunities for worldwide buyers and investors interested in Russia's B2B marketplace like working in a Russian hi-tech plant or Russian real estate.
-Mr. Rozwadowski informed us that many Russian are seeking jobs outside of there own country because of their country financial troubles.
Thousands of businesses depend on intercultural communication for exports of their revenue.
For example: If you work in an Soviet Union Company you may be called on to visit or communicate with a wide variety of people who speak differently than yourself, so you will need to know how to communicate with those individuals.
Advantages in Russia
-There are a few of advantages of Russian businesses:
- They have higher pay rates but their jobs are very hard to obtain due to economic recession
- Some of Russia's nonverbal are similar to those in the U.S.
Ex. Thumbs-up means approval in Russia as it does in the U.S.
The diversity of today's workforce brings distinct advantages to businesses:
- A broader range of views and ideas
- Helps companies understand and identify with diverse markets
- Companies get a wider range of employees talents
According to Mr. Rozwadowski:
- More diverse teams tend to be more innovative over the long term than homogenous teams.
There are many challenges of Intercultural Communication like the language you speak, the nonverbal signs you send, and the way you perceive other people. The meaning of words, the significance of gestures, and the importance of time and spacing may changes when entering into the Soviet society.
These and many others aspects of communication are defined by culture.
