Julie and Julia

I thought Julie and Julia was a very interesting movie that I was able to relate with. Julia started

out confused about what she wanted to do in life. She tried being a hat designer as well as learning how

to play bridge. Julie went through the same problem she hated her job but enjoyed cooking, she ended

up recreating all of Julia's recipes within a year while blogging her experience.

I felt as though I was able to relate to the movie because I was unhappy with my job as a truck

driver. I quite to start my own business as a photographer and had to go through many obstacles in

order to get where I'm at now. In my opinion this was the main point of the movie because they both

had to overcome their obstacles in order to reach their desired goals.

Julia had to overcome the language barrier because she had moved to France without knowing

how to speak the language. She ended up enrolling into the Cordon Bleu Academy to learn how to be a

chef. She was ridiculed by the head mistress of the academy and disliked by her peers because at that

time it was unheard of that a woman trying to be a chef.

Julie had her own obstacles she had to overcome. She had a full time job and still had to find the

time to teach herself how to cook the recipes in Julia's cookbook which totaled over 500 in 365 days, as

if that wasn't difficult enough Julie was doing all this while having to blog about her experience day by

day. She had to work in a small kitchen while having constant emotional breakdowns. At one point her

marriage almost broke apart.

I believe the majority of people in the country dislike their occupations and maybe do not have

enough courage to change it. This movie is about reaching your goals and exceeding your own

expectations. It's definitely rare to find someone that enjoys what they do as their profession.
