Leadership
Leadership is the process by which an individual influences other individuals to accomplish a common objective and /or direct an organization towards achieving cohesion and coherence. Leaders accomplish this process by using their leadership skills and knowledge (Tittemore 20). This essay will deal with six domains leadership with main emphasis on inspirational domains. Effective leadership is one which is characterized by six domains. According to six domains an effective leader should posses the following domains (Tittemore 202).
Personal: the leader must enhance and project his /her leadership capability by being authentic and dedicated. This will enhance group spirit and cohesion.
relational: the leader must show respect and understanding to the team by showing sincere interest to the team interests as well as manage direct group reports.
Contextual: an effective leader must develop and build group identity and purpose. As a team leader build coherence and clarify your team mission, roles and organizational practices.
Inspirational: excellence and innovation should be the leader's team mindset. This can be enhanced by the leader being enthusiastic and optimistic and encouraging thoughtful risk-taking.
Supportive: the leader should protect their team members and secure them from unnecessary politics.
Responsible: a leader must take responsibility by modeling ethical actions within the group. He/she must ensure that balance exists in the group by all means.
The above are the six domains of leadership. As earlier stated this essay will concentrate mostly on inspirational domains. Inspirational leadership domain is very crucial to effective leadership. Leaders who are inspirational have the potential to lead people towards buying an idea, change, business, new ideas, and to project as an influential figure in the private or public sector.
As a leader there are some obstacles that hinder my effective performance as a leader. Some of them include debilitating emotions and perfectionism. This obstacle hinders effective decision making thus affecting my leadership at particular occasions. These gaps have lead at certain occasions to be seen as a strict leader who does not consider other persons abilities.
I think I need to change my way of behavior when it comes to decision making and giving the members a chance to participate in decision making. By overcoming the challenge of perfectionism, I will be able to lead effectively. I can leverage my individual leadership style and persona by seeking advice from renowned leaders, and learning to practice the six domain of leadership.
As an inspirational, leader, my greatest strengths include enthusiasm and optimism. this attributes have helped me in several occasions to charismatically influence many people towards buying development ideas and accepting
