Assignment: Leadership Development Assignment C: Personal Mission, Vision and Career Goals Statement Assignment
“Please with goals succeed because they know where they’re going” this quote is written by Earl Nightingale. This quote best reflects upon the leadership position. A leader is a person who has a vision and a motive in life. A leader is driven to commitment and achieving their goals and vison. Leaders are determined, motivated, planners and communicate very well. In my opinion everyone has a desire to live, no one willingly wants to die. However, when discussing how we wish to die, people usually wish to die peacefully in their sleep verse experiencing a painful death. I want to be a health care leader because I want to help patients in their needs and be able to make decisions in helping them with their financial needs.
Wanting to be a leader can be a bit challenging but its not about being perfect its about how great of a leader you want to be and to work hard and improve your qualities about yourself and help others. When dealing with leadership standpoint I believe that communicating is one of the most important value when working in professional environment or even in your classes. For example, I was a treasure for two organizations at Penn State Abington they were called Women For Technology and South Asian Student Association. These two organizations led me to working with other leaders within the organization. We all had agree upon the same things and deciding what’s best for the events that we would be planning for which requires great communication skills. Furthermore, you need to be positive. As being a leader you need to be positive. Having a positive attitude will help you achieve your goals and will be able to help others as well.
Few years ago, my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and the doctor had told us that he did not have much time left. He received aggression chemotherapy treatments however after a few rounds of chemotherapy my family could not afford to pay for these costly session. In addition, my grandfather was exhausted by all the suffering that came along with cancer and had no longer had it in him to fight the pain. He also did not want my family to be constantly stressed on figuring out how to pay for his treatment. So therefore, he thought it was finally time to be put to rest and no one in my family agreed and said he doesn’t have to worry about financial situation. After few weeks they realized how much my grandfather was suffering and realized they could not afford to pay for his treatment anymore. So all of the elders in my family came to concise decision and wished to follow his wish of being freed from misery and pain so we let him go. My grandfather’s story always stuck with me and made me realize that the type of administrator I wish to become. During my career I may be in a similar situation, where my organization has to provide the financials for a family so they can see their loved one live one more day. My goal is to be the type of administrator that can help all individuals and families who face these kind of financial problems. My long term goal is to open a nursing home in order to help the elderly’s. I would like to help them and wish to make a difference for all those people who do not have any support. In order to accomplish this goal in about two to three years, I intend to get my bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Administration and also by getting my master’s degree. Also, in about three to four years I would like to work in a hospital or in an insurance company to gain experience in the health care industry so that when I do open a nursing home I have knowledge and will be exposed to health care field. I believe I will be able to achieve my goals and provide affordable health to all patients.
