Life's Inexperience

Aristotle once said "to write well, express yourself like common people, but think like a wise man. Or think as wise men do, but speak as the common people do." (Quoteland) While I do not have much experience as a writer, I was taught in high school to write as simple as possible. While there is no set method to come up with ideas and write a paper, there are certain norms one must follow when it comes to writing. As I continue writing this paper, I will explain some of the methods I have used, while I do not have much writing experience the little I do have was based on a foundation of high school writing skills.

The last time I really had to write something was about 20 years ago. Since high school I really did not have to write much. Although I do have some memories of writing earlier in my life. I was in 9th grade and I was taking a literature course, and I was asked to write a Haiku poem. The poem was a new idea to me and I quite didn't understand the point of writing a poem that relies on a juxtaposition of syllables. I didn't understand why the poem was set up 5-7-5, and the syllables are set up in that order. I didn't quite enjoy writing this type of work, I didn't see a point in setting up a poem that way. Another experience I have had with writing was also in high school. My senior year I had to complete a paper on J.D. Salingers "The Catcher in the Rye." I was required to read the short book and write a paper on it. I actually enjoyed reading this book and writing a paper on it. I found the experience to be fruitful because it really helped me develop an individual perspective on reading and writing. The paper turned out to one of the better papers I wrote.

I never particularly enjoyed writing, nor was I too good at it. While I was in high school I did write quite extensively but after I graduated I never really wrote a paper again. When I did write I tried to use a model I learned in grade school. Where I would write out a subject then three idea's with that subject. I would eliminate the idea's and eventually come to a conclusion about what to write about. If I were to be asked about how I felt about writing I would quite frankly say that I am indifferent. Without much experience I feel that I cannot have much of an opinion on it. But if I were to name some experiences I would first mention a paper I had to write about genetic engineering. I got the worst grade I have ever made on anything on that paper. I think it was because I never had much of a passion for science. All in all I guess I write the best in what I have the most passion for, when it comes to things I care nothing about, my writing reflects my interest.

If I had to name a good experience I would definitely write about how I wrote a paper about the difficulties one has in their life. I wrote likely the best paper ever
