Management Studies
Managing is one of the most important human activities. From the time people began forming social organisations to achieve aims and objectives they couldn't do it as an individual so managing has been essential to ensure the coordination of individual efforts. Accordingly to what the Wikipedia says "managing in all business and organizational activities is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively.
There are some key issues that allow people to manage the team effectively. First is motivation. If the team feeling they are respected and valued the team will work more effectively. Second one is Delegation. Manager's job is to teach people how to do things so once they understand what is required from them they will do it and they will not need any further instructions. Next one is to set clear and timed objectives so the employees know what to do and when they need to finish it. Last key issue is good communication. It is vital that employees know what is going on around them. If there is lack of communication between the managers and the employees it could end up with demotivation.
Management theories are important because they are a study of how to make all the people in organization more effective. Good management theories can form the foundation of a successful business. There are many benefits to knowing management theories. Leaders in any kind of organization can learn from the tried and tested management concepts but management theory doesn't just teach someone how inspire employees to be more productive, it also shows managers how to be good bosses. It is a key for them to know how to deal with issues that may exist in the workplace.
First theory is developed by A.H. Maslow in the early 1940s. He says that people are motivated by five basic needs which he called "the hierarchy of basic needs". These needs can be linked to a pyramid which has the primary needs as a base and which are universal, rising in steps to the highest need (see figure 1). The first place in the hierarchy of basic needs have physiological needs. These needs are the basic ones and include mainly the need to satisfy hunger and thirst. Once these needs are satisfied, they no longer operate as primary motivators and people concentrate on other needs. Second place in the pyramid have safety needs. Maslow describes safety needs not as the kind of safety that comes from fear or being attacked but includes shelter, clothing and protection from potentially dangerous or uncomfortable factors as weather, machinery vehicles, fire or flood. Third one is affection or social needs(belonging needs).
