The elements and scope of a project is the time and cost of completing project deliverables. Estimating the process is measured as the top down and bottom up. The top down estimates are usually done by the senior management. The bottom up estimates are typically performed by the people who actually doing the work (Gray & Larson, 2008). The project should be completed within twenty-one months at a cost not to exceed $1.2 million. The overall objective of the conference is to discuss the organizations strategic vision for the next ten years. The plan is to leave the conference with a clear understanding of Duck Unlimited Future. For this particular project the deliverables will be the meeting agendas, notes and the project status reports. The major milestone of the project will occur when we are about fourteen months, this is when we will confirm the venue of the event and should have a better idea if the 1.2 M budget is still sufficient for the execution of the project. Confirming the budget will help determine the technical requirements such as what type of computer or visual audio services will be required. The only limit that we are facing at this time is ensuring that all the representatives will be able to make the event and availability of lodging.
Describe how you would develop cost estimates for this project.
The primary measure of a project priorities are in terms of time and cost. Setting the timeline of the Duck Unlimited conference is the number one priority. The time line is important because there are multiple people involve who are coming from different parts of the country and the scheduling is important. For example, fourteen months out we will ensure we should have well-established committee members, the conference site and date should be decided around this same time. During this time the realistic budget has already been established.
This is the next priority for the committee, is to look at the budget to ensure that there are no budget constraints such ensuring that all sponsors are still willing to donate their initial bid for the conference. Due to economic constraints if some of donors can no longer support the conference we should to look at the areas we can cut expenses e.g. travel cost, advertisement, lodging.
Describe a project network that could implement this project plan.
A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is used for breaking down a project into easily manageable components (Gordon, 2011). Project Manager and Organization Leaders use work breakdown structure to make difficult projects more manageable. Other reason to use a work breakdown structure is to help with organization of the project as well as to assign responsibilities and to have a clear picture of cost. See below diagram of preliminary WBS.
Describe how you will add allocate resources for this project
