Telecommunication
Unkowingly, Telecommunication and its respective appliances has become a very important part of our 21st century life. We use it more than we need and depend
on it like there is no other alternative, but how much do we know about its uses and abuses?
At a time, when the development of miracle devices like mobile phones and satellites seemed impossible, did telecommunication exist?
The answer to such a simple question is, yes it did. Telecommunication is defined as the transimission of information over a distance and so it even existed
at the time of the Middle Ages where beacon of lights were used to signal and send information to another part of town or city.
We don't really stop to think and ponder over the pros' and cons of a system that uses fiber optics or microwave transmission because of how common it has
become to our hectic lives and how it has made every little thing we do a tad bit easier. However every man-made thing ,undoubtedly, lacks somewhere at some
point or another and here Telecommunication is no different.
When you think about Telecommunication, your mind immediately wanders to the internet, radio, televeison and telephones, all of which are an essential part of
telecommunication and our daily routined lifestyle. To discuss the advantages of each would be rather off topic so in general terms we know that due to the
establishment of such devices and systems we can achieve to do many things we could not do before. For example, the most major and advantageous function is
to provide a way of keeping contact with people whether it pertains to family or business, instead of the old fashioned letters and post, we now send data
across miles with no time delay making it very efficient and effective. It is very easy to be well informed about what is going on locally or
internationally. Many of our tedious tasks like shopping and paying bills can be done online in a matter of seconds. All these forms of media also help in
educating by providing useful knowledge of various subjects. We can hold video conferences, get live coverage of recent events, make orders and bookings, stay
connected and at the same time have a constant source of entertainment ready at hand. News, music, videos, documentaries, audio conversations, sharing and
posting, e-mailing, picture editing, publishing online and so much more has become available to us. Due to these advancements many job oppurtunities have
also risen because of this field of telecommuncation being so adverse and interesting.
