Overview of United States of America

United States of America is the third largest country in the world in terms of population and size. Its bordering countries are Canada in the North and Mexico in the South. The highest point is Denali (Mount McKinley) at 20335 feet, and the lowest point is Death Valley at -282 feet.

The United states of America has the world’s largest network of road and rail system. It has a population of 321,368,864 million people. Its unemployment rate sits at 4.44%. It has GDP of 18.6 trillion USD in 2016 and a GDP per capita of $55805 USD in 2015. The United States has an established record of innovation in sectors such as technology and Aviation. It benefits from an economic geographical location on the Atlantic, Pacific Ocean and the Great Lakes System. The US has the best financial markets in the world and has the most trusted reserve currency in the world.

Exports and imports of goods and services contribute to 28% of its GDP. Whereas the private conceptions were 68% of its GDP this makes it a domestically oriented and consumption driven economy.

Memphis International Airport (MEM)

Memphis International Airport (MEM) is located at Winchester Road Memphis, TN, USA. It is one of the largest cargo airports and ranks 2nd in the world. It also ranks number 108 in terms of the passengers it receives in a day. Its stands at a latitude of 35.040031, and longitude of -89.981873.

Memphis International Airport has a capacity to accommodate 10 million passengers a year. It handles 8.15 billion pounds of cargo and it has also recorded 338,973 aircraft movements. FedEx Express World Hub Operations is responsible for 99% of cargo Handled at Memphis and 40.9 million square feet of space of airport is under lease.

Future development

In October 2008, Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority enlisted Jacobs Consultancy to build up another ground-breaking strategy. Jacobs Consultancy finished the 2027 Airport Master Plan in 2009, which incorporates a ground transportation center (GTC) and an enhanced control tower. According to 2017 world airport traffic rankings of Airports Council International Memphis International Airport is world’s second busiest cargo airport and busiest cargo airport in North America. In 2017, 4.33 million metric tons of cargo was handled at this airport which was an increase of 0.3% as compared to 2016.
