Dear Employees:
As many of you may know, yesterday August 5, 2010. One of our mining tunnels in San Jose, Chile suffers a massive collapse trapping 33 of our friends and colleagues 300 meters below the surface. Rescue teams have started probing for ways in to the tunnels to rescue those who are trapped. Please take a moment in your busy schedule to pray for our friends and their safe return.
Because employee safety is important to the company and for precautionary purposes, the company has decided to temporarily suspend all mining operations until further notice. All employees are therefore dismissed until all tunnels are properly inspected and deemed safe to resume work. We advise that you take this time to console your families and friends. This tragedy affects us all in more ways than one. Our hope is that we can heal and learn from this tragedy so that we can be stronger in the end.
