New product Development and Quality Function Deployment
Tri-State Ind is a successful manufacturing company that addresses some of the issues they face when developing a new product and integrating a new prospect to manufacturers. The original design of the trailer, did not meet some of the expected requirement as it failed some of the testing and after substantially approving, the quality of the trailer, the industry has managed to redesign the trailer and meet the demands.
Processing systems by Product Flow
Manufacturing operations can be broken down to four general processes. These product processes include Job shop, batch processing, assembly line and the continuous process. This product process indicate the relationship the four processes and the three variables of each. These variables are product variety, equipment flexibility and production volume. The first factor is product variety or how much the product changes from customer-customer. A steel manufacturer for instance, will produce a single product while a tool shop produces each product basing on the unique and specific needs of the customer. The second aspect is the type of equipment employed in producing the product. For instance, the steel manufacturer has highly integrated equipment and each piece of equipment has its job. The third aspect is the volume of product to be produced. For instance, a steel plant produces in large volumes.
Process Systems by order Fulfillment
Midanna decided to implement their first complete kitchen change-over to a smoother, faster and more flexible kitchen system; it was called the ‘made for you’ operating system. The system that had been so successful was designed to produce just a few types of sandwiches generally in large quantities to meet two peak demand periods a day, but the market has changed. It insisted on having a greatest selection of meal options as sandwiches could no longer be pre-made as everything had to be created fresh for the customer. Changes in cooking equipment and communications technology allowed the company to launch its new concept.
Process Selection Decision
In the early 1990 a lot of the products that we released were coming back out of waste. This is the video that I liked most since the process involved is aimed at saving the environment and eliminating wastes.
