Our justice system who is it good for?
In my opinion the criminal justice system caters to the criminal and is set up so the criminal has many ways as to not go to prison or jail. There are so many loopholes in the CJS that frankly, I am surprised that the prisons and jails are as full as they are now. It's called the justice system but unfortunately a more accurate name may be the injustice system there is not enough justice in our justice system. The prosecutors are over booked and under whelmed and paid, their caseloads are tremendous and with the budget cuts there are just not enough detectives available to investigate each and every case as thoroughly as they could be if there were more detectives to distribute a more reasonable amount of the many cases out too therefore lightening the burden of the overworked police at the stations also the way the system is designed it caters to the criminals so much so that if they win the cases against the criminal then the sentence is to light to be effective so therefore the police start to think what am I doing this for its not effective the way this system is set up so why bother I can't even make a difference in the crime on the streets because I can't get the criminal that deserve to be put in jail in jail.. The detectives and prosecutors have many cases where the defense attorneys deal with so much less. Their only job is to defend the accused. Whereas the prosecutor and detectives must gather the evidence and then present it in court to get a conviction and get the criminal off of the street. Meanwhile the defense only has to poke holes and look for the errors and to play upon the loopholes to set the accused free, no matter how undeserving he/she may be. For the prosecutor to even get a conviction is a major ordeal and compound that by 10 if it turns out to be a high profile case or the accused just happens to be a celebrity, getting a conviction is just about impossible. The case that comes to mind for me even though it happened almost two decades ago was the OJ Simpson case. Even today that case makes me absolutely disappointed in the Criminal Justice System. I believe I can speak for everyone when I say that the Criminal Justice System let both Nichole Simpson and Ronald Goldman's families down. Our CJS allowed a murderer to walk free and to mock everyone involved. I have never been able to understand how OJ could be acquitted on murder charges but found guilty of unlawful death. I understand its guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt and all that but I also feel that if OJ would not have been a celebrity he would not have had that same outcome in his case and that should never be the case if you are guilt then you are guilty it shouldn't be okay, if your guilty but rich and or famous then you walk away with a slap on the wrist , but if you happen to be poor then you must rely on the luck of the draw that your court appointed attorney
