If I was Palmer at the end of the case, I would have still told sands about what Crosby had been doing the whole time. It would at least help the next project that he would work on with someone else. I would have also told her that when Crosby insisted for Zeke olds to be assigned to his team that he was working on keeping him all to himself. Also more thought should have been put into arranging how much time Olds devotes to each project and which project Olds should devote more time to.

In the beginning Palmer could have said that Mr. Olds was two important to his team and that he couldn't spare him at that time. Palmer should have talked directly to Olds about his declining performance as soon as the problem was noticed. There could have had more communication as well. Palmer could have said that Mr. Olds expertise was very important to the Johnsonville audit and he could not let him go until it was finish. Palmer could have avoid losing Mr. Olds by letting him leave work early on Friday so he could take his wife and kids to the Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. By doing this he would have gain more trust with olds. And he could have told him how important he was to the company and the Johnsonville audit.

The main advantage of this type of management is that it allows the members of the team to share any information more freely across boundaries which would otherwise have not existed. Resource can be shared across multiple projects as well as within functional divisions. Another large advantage is that that Olds was chosen to suit the requirements of a project and the team that will be more dynamic and able to approach certain problems in different ways.

Some disadvantages of matrix management styles include a conflict over the allocation of resources between line managers and project managers. Any situation in which resources are being shared across projects lends itself to conflict and competition among project managers. People may also need to learn new skills and quickly address certain issues including managing others and themselves.
