The two books that I will be comparing will be Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Lord of the flies by William Golding. These books are both phenomenally written works in their respective genres and have great plots. The difference between these two amazing books is that Persepolis was based on the author's life, while Lord of the flies was just another one of William Golding's work. The similarities in both these plots is that it portrays real stuff, like in Persepolis, trying to fight against discrimination of freedom and the evil in humans shown in the Lord of the flies. The emotions showed in both these books are one of sadness and sorrow. In both books the main character has lost an important person in their life and goes through some troubling times. The differences and similarities in both these books vary from little details to big events and that is what I will be pointing out in the paragraphs below.

One of the things I will be comparing in both books will be the themes. One important theme that is found in both books is the effects of war. In the Lord of the flies, the boys plane crashes onto an uninhibited island due to a misfire from a war machine, this sets of a chain reaction of events leading to the demise of the main characters Ralph two friends Piggy and Simon. In Persepolis the story starts out fine, but once Iran and Iraq get into a war her city gets turned into a warzone killing her next door neighbor and also the many people that are related to her family such as her uncle Anoosh who was falsely accused and sentenced to death. Another theme common in both books are the evil found in the humans once they acquired power. Such as in Persepolis when the Islamic Regime won, they quickly started torturing and killing protesters and anyone who rebelled against them, and in Lord of the flies when Jack got full control of the mostly all the boys he turned them in to savages and even influenced them to kill the opposing Ralph's group.

The characters in both Persepolis and Lord of the flies go through difficulties. Like in Persepolis, the main character Marji and her family face the tough times of Iran together. In lord of the flies Ralph and all the boys face the loneliness and desperation of the island together. The characters in both books are kind of similar, such as Marji/ family and Ralph/boys are against the power corrupted Islamic Regime and Jack/Hunters. The similarities in the books are that Marji in Persepolis grows up through the hard times and learns to adapt to her environment, such as the boys in the Lord of the flies, though they don't grow up on the island they still adapted to it. The differences in both books are in Persepolis different characters relating to the main character Marji start to make appearances eventually leading to drastic changes in Marjis life. Though the impact of the changes can vary from the strength of the connection the character has with Marji. In Lord of
