T heprimary reason I decided to pursue graduate studies is to improve myself professionally and make a difference in my career. With the growing demand for health care services and with the inevitable shortage of primary care physicians in the next 15 years, nurse practitioners and other midlevel providers will play an important role in the health care system (Clark, 2011). Being in this profession for 16 years, I believe that in becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I can use my knowledge and skills to make a difference in other people's lives. Having a master's degree will also open many doors for promotion and even higher pay.
Because paper writing is one of my weaknesses but a vital aspect in graduate school, my short-term goal is to improve my writing skills within a year. I can accomplish this by attending APA writing workshops provided by this university either online or in campus. Another way is by reading journals, essays, and research papers to broaden my vocabulary. My long-term goal is to finish the MSN-FNP program within three years and be able to land a job. I can do this by being diligent with school work, using time wisely and obtaining feedbacks from Nurse Practitioners that I meet while in this program.
able to express myself very well orally and in writing is one of my biggest assets. Having been in health care for a while haof s taught me how to communicate with peopleBeing from all walks life. I can easily look them in the eye and find the right words to motivate them. However, there were times that I think that I have too much to say in a limited amount of time. This makes me stummer.
