Forensic Article Discussion Posting

PROCEDURE

Articles must talk about 1 of the following areas

New advances in forensic science (technology, skills, etc.)

An actual case that used to forensics to solve the crime

An actual case that needed forensics or did not discuss the forensics very well

Poster posts article

Posts will be titled “WEEK __ ARTICLE POST- (title of the article)”

Ex.: “WEEK 1 ARTICLE POST- Police fatally shoot black man in Wisconsin; protests erupt”

Have one sentence description of the article

Responders Create Comments underneath

Requirements for credit

Posters-

must have articles posted by 6pm on Wednesday of the week you have been chosen.

Responders-

Responses due by 11:59pm on Sunday.

Must post thoughtful reflections on any one of the posted articles (1 paragraph minimum)

Comments should

1. Talk about what the change in forensics means on past, present, and future cases
2. Discuss the way forensics were used in the case and how they helped solve the crime
3. Explain HOW forensics could be used in the case

Notes

1. Responses need to be thoughtful, reflective, and targeted to the article it is responding to.

1. Responses are worth a weekly score of 50 points, Posts are worth 100 points (this is 400 points per grading period, and a major portion of your participation grade)

1. Responses not correctly done (either not thoughtful, fail to meet one of the 3 things a comment should do, or just poor) will result in no points being awarded. Also, posts that are not correctly done will receive no points.

1. Students may also comment to someone’s comment. In other words, if you disagree with what someone says, or want to support what they have said, then you may do so by replying to their comment. However, you must still follow the posting guidelines.
