Proposed System Requirement List
The frequent shopper program is rather basic in design, and thus the requirements to the system will also be non complicated. There is a bandwidth issue, as each location currently utilizes a 56k dialup modem connection. It is suggested that high speed internet is activated to all three sites. This increased speed will allow a database to be shared among the sites that can be used to store customer demographic data, buying history, as well as any accumulated purchasing points. To best maximize the database, an SQL server software application will need to be installed on all servers to best store customer data. Each location will need related applications, domain, and web servers to be installed. It is suggested that two firewalls be added to each site to protect users and the companies web servers from viruses. One firewall will be for customers who access the system who wish to check their accumulated purchasing points. The second will be used for the company intranet who wish to view or do maintenance on customer data. In addition to virus protection the firewalls will prevent customers and employees from gaining unapproved access, as well as prevent data loss. A barcode scanning system will need to be used and can be integrated with current scanning system used in Kudler stores.
