Recommendations for managing ethical issues in the company

McDonald has been growing rapidly in the fast food industry in these recent years. Therefore, it is important for the management department of the McDonald to identify the ethical issue and find the solving method to uphold the interest of their stakeholders. For example, McDonald can apply 6-step issue management approach to solve the problem which comprises of recognition, analysis, ranking, strategizing, response and evaluation of various issue.

1. Enhance the administration on the source of products

Firstly, the management department of the McDonald’s have to enhance their regulations in administrating the sources of products which are used by its franchises all around the world. This is because the scandal about using the expired meats in one of the outlet in China has proved that the administration on the procurement on the edible goods is not strict enough. Therefore, the supply department should be globally enhanced their management in order to against the immoral management which will damage the reputation of McDonald’s with unethical practices. For example, the management should ensure that the employees always check on the expired date of the sources of product to ensure that it is not expired. Other than that, apologizing to the public. The representative of McDonald’s should give explanation about the causes of these issues and clarify that they will improve their administration on the sources of products and the issues is not associated with the operations with other regions.

2. Ensure systematically food preparation.

Furthermore, the preparation of the food in every outlet of McDonald’s needs to be supervised systemically. Every outlet should provide sufficient trainings as well as basic operating knowledge to their employees. The moral awareness should be built in the mind of employees who handle foods. They have to be conscious of thr problems which may arise if they did not take the right steps in the process of preparing foods. For example, the employees must wear a gloves before preparing the food, ensure the meats is well cooked. This is necessary for McDonald’s to ensure the quality of meals, cleanliness, and protect the safety of customers.

3. Make recruitment requirement clear

Next, the human resources team of McDonald's should be understanding about their requirement on their employees. McDonald's should take advantage of candidate self-selection by clearly showing what qualities they look for when hiring a new employees. Employee's attitude have to be taken seriously as they are the front-line employee. They front-line employees is representing the reputation of McDonald’s this is because they are the one who will be serving the customers. Good attitude services will lead to loyalty customers. Not only that, trainings should be given to each of the employees before they are being approved by the company. This is to make sure that they are qualified to serve the customer.
