Describe
This week's workshop, we were randomly divided into teams of 5 to ensure a mix of students in each team. I am quite slow to adapt to new people and to work with them, and always the quiet one in the group. So, when a group discussion is going on, I'll listen first before giving any opinion.
Interpret
This week we did a few brainstorming on how work changes by generations and how people in different generations expect values in work, identifying the real problem in a given case study and doing a mind mapping. For our group, we think that people in the later generation - Generation Z view 'work' as a pleasure of doing the things they are interested in. and they do not like bossy leaders. We find identifying real problem a bit challenging as we always get off track.
Evaluate
I find identifying real problem is a very good exercise, because we always misinterpret the problems and provide the wrong solution. Sometimes we can be 'tricked' into treating symptoms instead of solving the root problem (Fogler & LeBlanc, 2008). Mind mapping is a good way to convey messages and ideas clearly.
Plan
In my 3 years study in Victoria University, I plan to build my skills of tackling problems and the best way in solving it, because as I go into the society, I will encounter problems every day. I will have to have a good basic in solving problems so that I may not make a wrong decision when coming to solving problems.
